West Northamptonshire Local History

This site currently covers the west-Northamptonshire villages of: Barby | Crick | Kilsby

The site is designed to enable other local village communities to join, providing an in-depth resource for historical research (including family tree research) in west Northamptonshire and neighbouring villages over the borders of Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Each village has its own front page, providing access to a range of information about village history through the ages. The site is regularly updated, so there is usually something new to see – from annual programmes of talks and visits organised by local history societies to current research projects.

The site contains a large database of local history. You may need to register and log in before you can view some of the data – but registration is free, and is merely a mechanism that allows us to monitor how the site is being used.

A special section of the site – West Northants Regional History – deals with historical topics concerning the area in general rather than any specific village – for instance, archaeological work in the Romano-British and pre-medieval periods, deserted villages, topological studies, analysis of early wills, etc.
