Local Heroes
Fellows of the Royal Society have worked in and influenced every corner of the UK, as part of our anniversary programme small grants are provided for museums, galleries, libraries and archives across the country to celebrate their own local hero, whether they be a pioneer of the industrial age, geniuses that changed the way we see the world or contemporary scientists finding solutions to today’s problems. The hero can be an historical or contemporary Fellow or someone who has influenced the work of a Fellow, they don’t need to be well known, just have made an impact on your local community in some way!
Grants of up to £2500 are available and can be used for any public focussed activity, there are no limitations on what the fund can be used for so you could perhaps host an exhibition, talk, open debate or interactive community play.
