Tina Morton

Hello, all. I write this on a sunny afternoon in March, taking a break from a day of video conferencing, which seems to have become the norm workwise for me! I have been a member of the CAHG Steering group since 2018 through my role at The National Archives (TNA) [Tina is Head of the Regional and Networks Team].

I joined TNA just under nine years ago and have been in my current role for four and a half. I previously worked for the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (London and National) and the London Borough of Brent Heritage.

I currently work in the Archives Sector Development department at TNA where we are the main focus for TNA’s role in leadership of the UK archives sector. Our purpose is to ensure sustained or improved preservation of and access to the nation’s archive collections across the private, public and voluntary sectors. We operate in four teams working closely together and with other experts and specialists across TNA and the wider cultural sector. I head up the Regional and Networks Team, our core purpose is to develop relationships with archives across England and with key regional, local and specialist stakeholders. Team members are based across the country and each have wide ranging responsibilities with a large portfolio of archive services, networks and stakeholders including local authority archives, university archives, individuals, families, communities and private institutions, businesses and charities. It’s amazing to meet so many different people and help to look after such a wider variety of archive collections. There is always something interesting to see and think about!
