Making a community video

Beulah Road (1950's), Rhiwbina, Cardiff.

As a new member, I just wanted to tell you a little of my interest in making community films. (I run a one-man business transferring amateur films and videos onto digital/DVD).
Last year I made a 22 minute DVD of residents memories of our village and how it has changed over the last 50 years. ‘Rhiwbina – a scrapbook of memories’ is based on filmed vox pops of residents aged between 16 and 85 intercut with old photos and amateur cine film clips.
Rhiwbina is a suburb in north Cardiff with a garden village at its heart and has a special village atmosphere.
I’ve made a number of other short videos on themes around the village and am currently filming a short about ‘Rhiwbina Worthies’ about famous folk who have previously resided here. This one is proving much more challenging in sourcing visuals like photos and film clips!
Through the local civic society we are also building a community photo archive.
