Moretonhampstead

The archive consists of

• original material relating to the Moretonhampstead History Society
• original records and papers relating to the town of Moretonhampstead, being the archives or loose papers of organisations and individuals located in Moretonhampstead
• copies and transcripts of documents relating to the history of the town
• research notes by past members of the Society and those associated with the town

The archive extends to about a dozen large cardboard boxes and several rolled plans and a couple of artists' folders. Almost all the material dates from between 1810 and 2000. However there are a number of copies of early modern documents, and a few late medieval ones.

Where material is more suitably stored in Devon Record Office (e.g. parish council records, church registers, etc), it is transferred there, and not stored in the community.
