Westgate PAST (Picture Archive Stories Tales)

The project aims to bring together the multi cultural and multi faith communities of the Westgate area of Newcastle in order to capture their reflections of life as residents and first generation immigrant families by collating pictures loaned to them, archived material, and the stories and tales of local people.

Westgate PAST have received funding from Newcastle City Council as well as a sizeable slice of funding from English Heritage. This means they have been able to purchase the necessary equipment for the task as well provide accredited training for volunteers in sound and picture editing, interview techniques and research skills.
