Cataloguing Photographic Collections
March 8, 2021 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM at Online
The focus today is to consider the requirements of cataloguing photographic material. This will be achieved by using examples from a collection currently being catalogued at Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives, The Harbour Board Collection which consists of photographic material dating from the 1880s to the 1930s.
Katy Kavanagh (Archivist , Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire Archives) will explain how to identify several different types of photographic material in the collection, including negatives, care when handling objects and the importance of original enclosures. Katy’s presentation will discuss best practice when creating a catalogue that meets ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description.
