A tale of a time capsule - The University of Stirling, growth and redevelopment.

In June 1969 the University of Stirling completed the construction of the Gannochy Sports Pavilion, part of the first phase of building on the new university campus. As part of the opening ceremony for the building a time capsule was sealed within its walls. In November 2018 the time capsule was rediscovered during a major redevelopment of the university’s sports facilities.

Join Karl Magee, University of Stirling Archivist, on Wednesday 4th March, as he tells the story of the time capsule and traces the early years of growth and development of the new University of Stirling in the shadow of The National Wallace Monument.

Pre-booking is highly recommended as a limited number of tickets are available. Tickets to each lecture are £5 (£2 for The National Wallace Monument members). Bookings can be made by emailing info@nationalwallacemonument.com, calling (01786) 472140 – or by speaking to a member of staff.

The evening lecture will take place in Legends Coffee House at The National Wallace Monument. Tea and coffee will be served on arrival. Formal event proceedings start 30 minutes after the stated arrival time and each lecture will last for approximately 60 minutes.
