Whitby Museum Archive

A collection of materials, books, photographs and maps relating to Whitby and its environs (North York Moors).

Materials relate the the families, land and industries of the area, including shipping, shipbuilding, fishing, mining – particularly alum mining, forestry and whaling. We are attached to Whitby Museum, with its collections on explorers, jet working, fossils, social history and more. Our services include help with family history, exploring ship voyage logs and crew lists, church history and more.
