Wheatley Hill History Club

The Wheatley Hill History club was set up to collect ephemera, photographs and other memorabilia from the past. Their aim is not only to keep the items safe, but also to explain their use and significance in order to help future generations.

They run popular local history days and have produced several books, including a series on the local coal mining industry and a transcription of the burial index for Wheatley Hill (1907-1961).

They hold archive material on the following subjects:

  • The village
  • The pit
  • The people
  • War years
  • Organisations
  • Schools
