The Hanleys' Village Society

Material related to the parish of Hanley Castle, Worcestershire.

The archive established over the past 20 years includes:

• 2nd – 4th century fragments of Roman pottery and iron furnace waste;
• 18 books covering the period 1147-2019;
• 30 maps original & reproduction 1590-1973;
• four original paintings and drawings 1699-c. 1890;
• nine indentures 1774-1903;
• census returns 1841-1911 and the 1939 Register;
• numerous 20th century photographs;
• 42 postcards 1900s-1950s;
• 1950s ciné film of fetes at Hanley Swan;
• 2009 extensive audio recordings of his time in the parish by Charlie Williams (1923-2011).
