Sheffield Feminist Archive

Sheffield

Sheffield Feminist Archive is a volunteer-led community archive documenting grassroots feminism and women’s lives and stories, past and present, in the Steel City.

Through its rolling oral history project, SFA has collected more than fifty oral history interviews, as well as several boxes of physical material relating to feminist activism and women’s liberation, since its establishment in 2015. SFA’s feminism is intersectional and encompasses all self-defining women, including trans+ women.

SFA’s oral histories and physical archive are stored with its partner organisation, Sheffield City Archives, to ensure their continued preservation and accessibility. Please email archives@sheffield.gov.uk if you’d like to access SFA’s collection. SFA also has a small but growing library of feminist literature and women’s liberation material, housed at Wortley Hall in South Yorkshire – view the catalogue.
