Scarborough Photo Archive is a unique and extensive heritage collection of previously unseen photos from Dobson’s Press Agency, a Press and Commercial Photography business founded in 1964 by the late press photographer Dennis Dobson. Now re-branded as Scarborough Photo Archive, and curated by current owner, press photographer, and archivist Keith Meatheringham.
Our Photographers have been documenting Scarborough and the surrounding towns and villages of North & East Yorkshire for over six decades. Over the last sixty years we have created stunning images of people, places, news & sporting events, royalty, celebrities and every day life.
With anywhere up to 250,000 negatives in our archive, the majority of which is still in negative format and so still remains unseen. I am slowly digitising this collection to share these historic photos which might be of people, places and scenes that bring back fond memories for the people of Scarborough.
