Rylstone Project

Rylstone, North Yorkshire, York and North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom

The Rylstone Project is a local history community project begun approx 15 years ago. The Project is investigating the history of Rylstone Parish in the county of North Yorkshire.

The members of the project are amateur historians and archaeologists from the local area, interested in the parish of Rylstone. There is no formal membership of the project and the project is financed by donations and grants including the Cracoe and Rylstone Community Fund.

Our work is being carried out by site visits and walks in the parish, visiting local archives in the area such as North Yorkshire Archives in Northallerton, and investigating the archaeology and history of the area.

We have a website https://www.rylstoneproject.com on which our research and records to date are being published. The website has over a hundred photos, plans, sketches, paintings, and maps of the parish. The website also has articles and papers on the archaeology and history of the parish.

Members retain considerable materials used in preparing information for the website. The materials include hundreds of photos, maps, sketches , drawings, paintings, audio interviews, either in digitalal form or kept in box files.
