Falmouth History Archive

The archive is located in the historic Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society (‘the Poly’) building in Church Street, Falmouth, Cornwall.

It is an extensive archive of documents, maps, charts, books and photographs mainly relating to Falmouth and its environs. It includes a number of photographic collections, some of which have been digitised, which can be viewed in the Chellew Room at the Polytechnic Hall in Church Street. The period covered is mainly 19th and 20th century. Some of the published records of the RCPS (founded 1833) can also be viewed. The Chellew Room at the Poly is normally open for public enquiry on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (subject to availability of volunteers) between about 10.15 and 11.45. New volunteers will be welcome.
