Chrishall Village Archive is a collection of documents, photographs and artefacts relating to the village of Chrishall in the top north west corner of Essex.
The collection has been built up through many years. Most of the current collection was gathered by the village historian, Mrs Irene Cranwell, from the 1950s until 2010 when she passed away.
The Archive now has a physical home in the centre of the village as well as a digital home with a website where people can contribute their memories and stories of the village. More photographs and documents are coming in all the time to add to the collection. The Archive itself is open for event days during the year (please see the website for details and below) and can be opened on request.
We have finished the planned openings for the Archive for 2026. However we hope to put some more content on the website for you to enjoy over the winter and there may be a winter event – so do check back every now and then. We have had some lovely open afternoons this year and look forward to seeing you next year.
