Chatterley Whitfield Friends

Chatterley Whitfield Friends is an organisation based in North Staffordshire and was established in 2001.  Its motto is “Preserving the Past for the Future”.

The members have a wide range of skills including building and construction, welding and fabrication through to IT, digitising historic documents, accounting and photographers who keep a photographic records for future reference.  Some members are ex miners who have had a long career in coal mining and are able to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Chatterley Whitfield Friends.

The Friends are committed to actively seeking the preservation of one of the remaining complete colliery sites by working alongside Stoke City Council and Historic England.

We are guardians of a vast amount of maps, documents, photographs and mining memorabilia that was abandoned when the former Chatterley Whitfield Mining Museum closed in 1993 and all its assets were auctioned off in 1994.
