BMT Film & Media Archive
Film, photography, and audio archive of everyday life in West Yorkshire, particularly concerned with working-class dependents from the former ‘Worstedololis’ textile industry: including the underground jazz music scene in Leeds and black culture in Huddersfield, Leeds, and Bradford.
We have 1000s of photographs and hours of video and audio which we are in the process of digitising via our partners Alive Studios. These can be used in education, media, television, and for cultural representation. These include transfers from 8mm family home movies, professional documentaries on 16mm film, and Beta/Umatic and photographic negatives. We are a community documentary production company and collection for TV and cinema releases. Audio-visual promotion of under-represented groups and community cultural activities.
We are based in Leeds United Kingdom, the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the West Yorkshire Urban Area, giving voice to local communities, whilst reflecting the city’s strong cultural diversity and global profile. Our rapidly expanding archive shines a light on this significant cultural heritage. We produce work for the media industry at the same time seeking advice from the very community we portray, engaging with our social purpose via our Quorum of Community Consultants many of whom are international music promoters, actors and film makers.
