Assynt Community Digital Archive

The Assynt Community Digital Archive was set up as part of a wider 2009 community project, when the community defined a need for such a local facility. The Archive provides long term digital storage facilities of historical and contemporary information to community groups and individuals in Assynt and runs under the auspices of the Assynt Community Association.

The Assynt Community Digital Archive was set up as a Learning Project and designed in such a way as to allow other communities to build on the development work involved in setting up their own projects. The web site (www.tinslave.co.uk) documents the issues when setting up a community digital archive and is an information resource rather than being a portal to the archive itself.

The Archive has worked with Assynt Learning Centre to deliver Digital Archiving training to local residents, and works with local societies' own archive projects.
