The RFI Ghana Living Systems Community Archive is an emerging digital archive established in 2026 by Relational Futures Institute LBG. RFI is registered in Tamale, and the archive is coordinated between Tamale and Accra with a national focus across Ghana.
It documents indigenous social systems, community knowledge, ecological practices and locally grounded approaches to livelihoods, climate resilience, food systems, governance, care and intergenerational learning.
The archive is in its foundation stage. Its initial holdings comprise RFI programme and research documentation, institutional briefs, ethical documentation and consent frameworks, and materials developed for the Ghana Living Systems Initiative and its planned Northern Ghana pilot. As community partnerships develop, the collection will grow through community-authorised interviews, oral histories, photographs, audio recordings, short films, field notes, community maps and digitised documents contributed or developed with participating knowledge holders and local organisations.
The collection is primarily digital. It is intended to preserve both historical memory and contemporary practice, with an initial focus on knowledge and experience carried from the twentieth century into the present. RFI applies consent, safeguarding, attribution and community knowledge-ownership principles. Materials will not be made public where communities or knowledge holders have not authorised access.
The archive aims to help communities retain control of their knowledge while enabling responsible research, education, policy learning and practical climate and livelihood action. The first field-based collection will be developed through the Northern Ghana pilot once a participating community and local programme partner have been confirmed.
