In 2009 the Open University will celebrate it's 40th anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary, and as part of the ongoing work to capture our history, the Oral History project has been established.
Under the supervision of the University Archivist, you will research the history of the University and conduct interviews of current and ex-staff, students and alumni. You will also manage the collection of recordings, including migration onto storage media and the administration of using an external transcription service as well as ensuring that suitable rights clearance forms have been signed by interviewees. Travelling to interview locations may be required.
You will have a degree (or equivalent) as well as experience in interviewing and research. Good knowledge of legislation regarding intellectual property rights and data protection are essential. Experience in oral history projects and editing sound files are desirable. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as meticulous attention to detail.
