The South Armagh Heritage Audit 'It was told to me' project was started in February 2004, as a three-year project which aims to establish a reservoir of natural, cultural and built material, which reflects the special character of South Armagh.

The project currently has six local community groups and eight Primary Schools involved in illustrating their heritage through the production of interactive local heritage maps and creating a database of these locally important heritage features. The information for creating the local heritage maps has been gathered through a series of workshops and meetings and via workbooks from each of the schools.

The community groups involved with this project are:

Ballymacnab Community and District Association, Culloville and District Community Association, Darkley and District Community Association, Lislea Community Association, Mullaghbawn Community Association, Newtownhamilton Community Association

The schools involved with this project are:

Darkley PS; Dromintee PS; Foley PS; St. Brigid's PS, Glassdrummond; St. Joseph 's PS, Bessbrook; St. Malachy's PS, Ballymoyer; St. Michael's PS, Newtownhamilton; St. Patrick's PS, Cullyhanna.
