Three Centuries Tour

A 'then and now' photo gallery with a twist
By Jack Latimer

Each place in the Three Centuries tour of Brighton is illustrated by three photos, taken on the same spot: one in the 19th century, one in the 20th and one in the 21st.  The tour is probably the most popular popular feature of the My Brighton and Hove community archive.

The 'then and now' tour was originally created last century by Bert Clayton, a photographer for the Sussex Daily News. The 21st century photos were taken by Bert's great-neice, Tricia Leonard, and her friend Sue Craig.

Tricia and Sue Craig are now creating their own community archive in East Brighton, the East Brighton Bygones group.

Follow the tour online at the My Brighton and Hove website. You can see one of the image sets below.
