Stuart House, Liskeard Cornwall

Stuart House situated in the centre of the market and former stannary town of Liskeard houses two community archives pertinent the social history and development of the settlement.

During the Civil War Charles I stayed here for over a week in what was then an extensively Tudor building.

The Liskeard Old Cornwall Society Archive is a unique collection of documents and photographs about the town, founded and curated by John Rapson.

Whilst the Stuart House Exhibition Archive is a record and collection of materials of past events at the house.

As well as the archives there is a fulltime Civil War exhibition, and the house is regularly used for historical, heritage and art related exhibitions and performances.
