The George Padmore Institute (GPI) is an archive, educational resource and research centre, housing materials, including written documents, photographs, posters and audio material, relating predominantly to the black experience in Britain and internationally, especially in the Caribbean.

Founded in 1991 by John La Rose and others connected to New Beacon Books, Britain's first black publisher and bookshop, we are based in Finsbury Park, north London.

We often hold educational and cultural activities including talks, readings and film screenings. We also publish and disseminate relevant materials and our archives are accessible to the general public.
