Pride in Our Past (Plymouth)
Plymouth, Devon
Plymouth LGBT History Archive
The Plymouth LGBT History Archive is being built as part of the Pride in Our Past project set up by Plymouth Pride Forum in 2011. A key aim of the project is the creation of a permanent virtual and physical archive that charts the city’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender history.
The archive will be officially launched as part of the Pride in Our Past exhibition that will run for 9 weeks in the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery between 28th April and 30th June 2012.
Pride in Our Past was born from the realisation that Plymouth's LGBT community has people within it who have seen the world change; from a place where homosexuality could be regarded as criminal or a mental disorder into the more tolerant society of today. The aim of the project is to document and archive that shift in our past while considering where Plymouth is today.
The Pride in Our Past project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
