Bringing together mental health archives

(Mental Health) Survivor History Group: trends and issues in 2011
Anne Plumb

I am member of a (Mental Health) Survivor History Group which has a website managed by Andrew Roberts (who I hope will also be at the Community Archives conference in 2011).

I have a personal archive: Ear to the Ground. Survivor organisation and action. (mostly mid 70s-90s) which comprises leaflets, pamphlets, booklets, articles, flyers, newspaper cuttings...

Other members of the SHG have boxes of papers relating to, for example, organisations they were active in, such as UKAN (UK Advocacy Network).

Two issues are of particular interest : how/where could these various archives be bought together, and how best to 'digitise' items to make them more widely available. But I'm also interested in other people's archives!
