The Berkshire Family History Society Research Centre has a library containing over 7000 items consisting of books, fiche and CDs. In addition there are seven networked computers with access to subscription genealogy websites like Ancestry.com and findmypast.co.uk plus over 300 pre-loaded datasets with millions of index entries from Berkshire, the rest of the UK and overseas. You can also look through our searchable library catalogue.

The Research Centre is open every Tuesday 10.00-16.00 and 7.00-9.30, Wednesday 10.00-4.00 and Thursday 10.00-4.00. It is also open between 11.00-4.00 on the second Sunday of the month and the fourth Saturday of the month.

The Research Centre is next door to the Berkshire Record Office (which contains the archives for the pre 1974 county of Berkshire) and the Reading Register Office. There is plenty of free parking onsite. The centre is a 15 minute walk from the train station (uphill) or take a bus which passes the door approx every 10 minutes.
