West Newcastle Picture History Collection

West Newcastle Picture History Collection (WNPHC)  was created in 1984 to collect and maintain an archive of images illustrating the history and heritage of west Newcastle upon Tyne.

The collection is maintained by volunteers and contains over 21,000 images, plus maps, booklets and newspaper cuttings. It covers the present day suburbs of Arthurs Hill, Benwell, Elswick, Fenham and Scotswood but also includes items relating to Denton Burn, Kenton, Lemington, Newburn, North Wallbottle, Throckley and Westerhope.

It is based in the West End Service Centre & Library, Condercum Road, Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 9JH and volunteers attend between 10am and 4pm each Monday.
