Surrey History Centre

Surrey History Centre collects and rescues archives and printed materials relating to Surrey’s past and present, so that they can tell the story of the County and its people to future generations.

You can visit our supervised search room to use these fascinating materials and staff are on hand to assist your research.

We hold approximately 6 million archives dating from the C12th to the present day, including Parish records, Census returns, civil registration and poor law records, manorial records, estate and family papers, records of Surrey businesses, Ordnance survey maps and county maps, electoral registers, manorial records, rate books, deeds and sales particulars, records of local government, schools, charities and schools, local history books, directories, historic newspapers and periodicals, thousands of photographs, watercolours, postcards and archive films.

On our website you can search for archives or books using our online catalogue, see our large range of our topic sheets and check details of our forthcoming talks, displays and heritage events.
