Louisburgh & Killeen Heritage

Louisburgh & Killeen Heritage are a small group of volunteers who came together in 2011 to record and preserve the history and heritage of the area. In partnership with the National Museum of Ireland-Country Life we maintain an open access website and encourage contributions from all.

We are part of the Irish Community Archive Network, a group of community-led websites dedicated to showcasing the local history of Ireland. The Network and the member websites are the result of a Community Education & Outreach project with the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The home site of the Irish Community Archive Network is http://www.ouririshheritage.org/.

Most of the information on the Louisburgh & Killeen Heritage website has been contributed by ordinary folk who have an interest, be it past or present, in the community and its people. Through the site you can browse and enjoy the memories, images and history of the area, generously shared by the community and the people within it – as it is today and as it was in the past.
