Docking Heritage Group

Docking School

Docking Heritage group was set up in 2007 as part of the ARCH project, Archiving Rural Community History.

Our aim is to record, preserve and present the history of DOCKING through various media and in a way that encourages people to take an interest in and appreciate their local heritage.

Since then we have grown to about 20 members all with diverse interests but all dedicated to archiving our village history.

We have a permanent home, the Tony Arter Room, within the village hall, which is open every Wednesday morning between 10 and 12 noon from March to end of September. Here you can find images of village life, church records to help with family history, many other interesting articles and someone to help.

We have regular meetings throughout the year on the third Monday of the month at the Heritage Room at 7pm; we also hold an annual exhibition on the first May Bank Holiday weekend.
