Badsey Society Website

Badsey, near Evesham

A wealth of material relating to the villages of Badsey, Aldington and Wickhamford in the Vale of Evesham.

Our recent focus has been on the villages during WW1, a major section being the letters written by the Sladdens, a prominent family in Badsey life. Digital images of around 1000 letters have been placed on the website together with transcriptions, plus recordings of the letter-reading events held annually 2014-2017. There are also Wikipedia-style links to the people and places mentioned in the letters. Images of the diary entries of Charles Binyon have also been added.

In addition, there are hundreds of photos relating to village life and the people who lived there, plus parish records, census returns, churchyard inscriptions, directories, electoral rolls, early 19th century enclosure map records, Lloyd George Valuation Survey records and the 1941 National Farm Survey records, auctions and sales, newspaper articles – all included in an Index of Names which will facilitate searching for a particular person.
