ANSart Childhood Heritage Project

The project worked with local families, youth groups, schools and the wider community, to explore and document the community's changing experiences. The North Barnsley area, of which the estates of Athersley are a part, has been recognised as an area in transition, as the community works together to improve the area and the prospects of its future generations.

Fifty years of childhood and childcare in Athersley were documented. This was achieved by carrying out oral reminiscence work in the community and using old photographs and memorabilia in "memory boxes". The findings were published in a book and on a CD-Rom, and illustated with workshop sessions.
